A reception was hosted by Pakistan High Commission Pretoria, South Africa at the Pretoria Country Club t in connection with the 84th Pakistan National Day. Honourable Ms. Lindiwe Zulu, Minister of Social Development of the Republic of South Africa was the chief guest on the occasion. The event was attended over 200 members of parliament, government officials, members of the diplomatic and defence corps, prominent representatives from the Pakistani community and journalists.
Founder Chairman of Pakistan Southern Africa Trade Federation Mr. Mohammad Rafiq Memon attended the function.
The event also marked the completion of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and South Africa. In his remarks, High Commissioner Aftab Hasan Khan highlighted the historical bond between the two fraternal nations since Pakistan was at the forefront of global solidarity with ANC and South Africa against apartheid.
The High Commissioner re-iterated the pledge to support the inalienable right to self-determination of the people of Palestine and the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The HC called for the need to find permanent solution to these longstanding issues in accordance with the UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Palestinian and Kashmiri people respectively.
The High Commissioner performed the investiture ceremony and awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz to Mr. Salman I. Khan on behalf of the President of Pakistan, for his invaluable services for the Kashmir cause internationally.
